Last Minute ACT/SAT Test Prep Tips

Test Prep Tips the Day Before and On Test Day! The ACT is tomorrow! For those of you who have your pencils sharpened and ready to go for Saturday morning, here are a few last minute tips to help you make sure you’re 100% ready for test day! Make sure you’re prepared the night before Double check to make sure you have proper ID, your printed test ticket, enough pencils, and a calculator for the math section. There’s a break after the first two sections and you’re usually allowed a snack, so pack a water bottle and cereal bar or fruit for brain-food. Getting everything ready the night before ensures that you’re not rushed on test-morning and that you’ll have time to get any extra materials that you may have forgotten about. Also, know where the testing center is and make sure that you have clear directions if you do not. It’s a good idea to go by the testing center a couple of days before so that you’re familiar with the location and how long it takes to get there. The ACT website has a good "Test Day Checklist" to make sure you have everything in order before you head to the testing center! Get a good night’s sleep Rest is best! As we're said before, staying up late to do some last minute cramming will make you tired the next morning, and your brain will take longer to process information. Get a full 8-9 hours of sleep the night before so you’ll be rested and ready to take on those test questions. Eat a good breakfast It is said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and that couldn’t be more true on an ACT or SAT test morning. Make sure you get a good breakfast in before heading to the testing center. Even if it’s just a bowl of cereal, it will give you energy to power through the lengthy test. Warm up While you’re having a good, healthy breakfast, go through some simple practice questions. It’ll get your brain going and put you into testing mode. Relax! Go into your test day with confidence and a clear mind. If you’ve prepared properly and done plenty of practice, you should be fine! If you feel an onslaught of nerves before or after the test, talk to your parents or your college counselor. Sometimes it helps just to be able to talk it out. And for those students in Florida and along the coast, some of your tests may have been rescheduled because of the rough weather this weekend. The ACT has a running list of testing centers that will be rescheduling on their site for reference if you think you may be affected. Keep these in mind when getting ready for testing tonight and tomorrow morning, and the team at wishes you the best of luck on Saturday!
